Terms of service

Effective September 23, 2026.

German Events NYC is operated by Ben Shaw, an individual sole proprietor. Contact hello@germaneventsnyc.com.

1. Who provides the service

German Events NYC is operated by Ben Shaw, an individual sole proprietor operating under the name German Events NYC. In these terms, “I”, “me” and “German Events NYC” refer to Ben Shaw. German Events NYC is the business name, not a separate corporation or limited liability company.

These terms take effect on September 23, 2026. Contact hello@germaneventsnyc.com with questions or requests for help.

These terms describe the rules for using the service. Any direct purchase will also be subject to the specific offer and terms supplied before payment. A payment requires your authorisation; visiting the site or joining a free list is not permission to charge you.

2. The event guide and outside services

German Events NYC provides an independently curated guide to German-related events and community life in New York City. Unless an offer expressly identifies me as the seller or organiser, the named third party provides the event, registration or ticket.

I aim to keep listings accurate, but organisers can change dates, locations, availability and prices. Check the linked official source before travelling or buying. A listing is not an endorsement or a guarantee of admission. External websites have their own terms and privacy practices.

3. Accounts and eligibility

Keep your account information accurate, protect your password, and contact me if you suspect unauthorised access. Do not create an account for someone else without permission or impersonate another person.

You must be at least 18 to use community accounts. A venue may require a higher age. General event listings may describe all-ages events; each organiser’s admission rules apply.

6. Community conduct and safety

Treat others respectfully. Do not harass, threaten, discriminate against, spam, defraud or impersonate anyone; share another person’s private information without permission; submit unlawful or infringing content; or interfere with the site’s security.

Use reasonable judgment when meeting people and follow venue rules. Profiles are not identity verification or background checks. Report a concern to hello@germaneventsnyc.com; this inbox is not an emergency service.

I may remove content or restrict access where reasonably necessary to address misuse, security or legal obligations. Where appropriate, I will explain the reason and provide a way to contact me about a mistake. Restricting access does not remove refund or other rights required by law.

7. Your content and privacy choices

You retain ownership of content you submit. You give me permission to store, display and use it only as needed for the feature you choose and in line with the privacy policy. Only submit content you have the right to share.

An event submission may be edited and published in the guide. Enabling member-directory visibility permits the profile information shown in that feature to be seen by signed-in members. Saved-event lists are private; anonymous aggregate tracking counts are public.

The site’s original design and editorial content are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Organiser names, marks and supplied materials belong to their respective owners. These terms do not limit lawful quotation, linking or other permitted use.

8. Service limitations and your rights

The site may have errors, interruptions or maintenance periods. I do not guarantee uninterrupted access or the conduct of independent organisers and participants. This does not excuse failure to provide a paid service as agreed or remove applicable remedies.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Nothing waives mandatory consumer protections or statutory refund rights. These terms do not require arbitration or waive participation in a class action.

9. Changes and ending use

You may stop using the guide, unsubscribe from the newsletter, or ask to close your account. Those are separate choices; stopping one service does not necessarily end the others.

Updates to these terms will show an effective date and apply prospectively. Material changes to an existing paid arrangement will be communicated as required by law and will not take away rights for a prior purchase. Where a change requires fresh consent, I will obtain it.

10. Questions and governing law

Contact hello@germaneventsnyc.com with questions or complaints. You are welcome to seek an informal resolution, but doing so is not a condition of exercising legal rights or contacting a regulator or payment provider.

These terms are governed by New York law, subject to mandatory consumer protections that apply to you. They do not impose an exclusive court location or shorten a legal claim deadline.
