About this event

Swiss architect Leopold Banchini presents Shelter Cookbook in Columbia GSAPP’s lunchtime book series, curated by Bart-Jan Polman. The book, created with German author and curator Lukas Feireiss, connects Lloyd Kahn’s approach to self-building with contemporary architectural practice through interviews, photographs and archival research.

The talk takes place on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. in Avery 400 at Columbia GSAPP, 1172 Amsterdam Avenue. An end time has not been announced.

Campus entry requires a Columbia ID or advance guest approval. GSAPP asks visitors to request access at least two business days before attending and to bring photo ID. Follow the organizer’s event page and calendar for registration instructions; contact GSAPP if an event registration link is not yet available. Admission pricing is not stated.

The Swiss and German connection is Banchini’s architectural practice and his collaboration with Feireiss. The announced speaker is Banchini; Feireiss is not listed as a speaker.
